Archive Question for DiscHub

My company needs an archive management system for about 400 to 500 discs. We are considering the DiscHub as an option.

My question is, what happens if one of the Dischubs fail. It would definitely need to be serviced or replaced. But, how do I remove my media and what would be the process to restore those discs to the database so they don't show up as missing? I wouldn't want to go through hundreds of DB entries to keep it up-to-date. If I connect a new Dischub and reinserted my media from the failed one, would MediaTracker give me an option to point that Disc to the DB entry it was originally link to? (Let me know if I need to reword my question).

I need to look at fail points in this system that I am proposing to my boss. I do like the backup and restore DB feature. However, the physical carousel failing presents a future problem.

Thank you in advance.

IT Department

Hello,

Greetings from Digistore Solutions. Thank you for your interest in our products.

MediaTRACKER Professional edition will work just fine, if your level of requirement is within a standalone management need. If your intended solution is to allow limited access within the intranet, you will need to look into the StorageQuest Centurion DiscHub Manager (SQCDHM) instead. You may wish to read more about it at: http://www.centurion-cd.com/products/storagequest-cdh-manager

In respond to your concern should there be a hardware breakdown, I shall elaborate using the default MediaTRACKER Professional edition with the DiscHub. In the event should the DiscHub failed, the disc load of carousel from the existing DiscHub will need to be swoop over to a replacement DiscHub. With the MediaTRACKER Professional database from the existing disc assets intact, a few automated steps will enables the administrator to re-establish the carousel load of disc assets with the replacement DiscHub. All these can be achieve without the need for physical handling of the disc assets within the carousel. For quick turnaround downtime, the MediaTRACKER Professional database can also be backup whenever require. This shall be safe-keep in the event of a system crash.

I hope my above explanation gives you a brief overview of what you can expect from our Centurion DiscHub. Feel free to contact us at: friends@digistoresolutions.com

Best regards,

Ivan
