Database Export

Hello all,

Have been using DDS for many years and have now migrated over to MediaTRACKER Standard, I am looking for a solution to export the Database to a XLS File.

The reason behind me wanting to do this is because I have 20 CCD Units and I would like to give some people the list as friends and family borrow Discs off me from time to time and currently I have to search the database when thay ask me for a Disc then want and 5 times out of 10 I dont have it.

Have found the Database in "mt_library.mtc" but am yet to find a way to export it, am wondering if the MediaTRACKER Software could include this in a future release?

Regards,

Kevin

I am currently working on a very simple program that should hopefully be able to export what is currently in MediaTracker and put it in an Excel file. It won't be anything pretty, but it should be better than nothing.

I'll post here again once I've managed to test the code I have written (Need to find a trial of MS Excel).

And I now have a very rudimentary exporter working. Would anyone like to volunteer for testing?

The binary I have made is compiled to work on 32 bit and 64 bit systems with the .Net framework (2.0) installed. I have written it using VB.Net 2008

I have tested the following so far:
MediaTracker Pro 2.1.3 with Excel 2007 on Windows 7 x64

Notes:
Program will crash if file path is invalid or user has no permission to save to that path. This ends up leaving a running Excel process in the background that needs to be manually killed.

I've successfully tested the application with Excel 2002 on Windows XP SP3... The link for download can be found currently on the Friends of Centurion facebook page.

Hey Kevin,
I am in the same boat as you. Support isn't being the most helpful either. Have you found a way to export or edit the mtc file?

Thanks

Hello sojourner353,

Greetings from Digistore Solutions.

I regret to inform you that presently, the function to export the MediaTRACKER database isn't available. We had taken your suggestion into account and shall review it in our later updates.

Best regards,

Ivan

At the moment I am having to take screen shots of catalogue and storing these in a word document. For me, there's no point upgrading from Lite until export functionality is present. It just seems so fundamental I can't believe it isn't there. Even if we could just cut and paste from the screen we could do the rest.

How do we know when a new version of MediaTracker is available? Will it be posted as a download for current users?
Is there a beta available or can you make one available for user testing? We could help DSS shake out the bugs before a formal release.

Thank you,

Chris

Hello Chris

Greetings from Digistore Solutions.

MediaTRACKER has built-in "auto-update" feature.

Hence, as soon as Digistore Solutions releases a newer version of MediaTRACKER onto our hosting server, and when you launch the MediaTRACKER, you will receive a dialog message requesting you to update to the latest version instead.

There is no alpha / beta version for MediaTRACKER presently.

However, if you wish to sign-up our testing program, please read our CenturionAlliance program. You could find more details on CenturionAlliance program under the "Partners" tag.

The CenturionAlliance is a free program.

You should open a " Request for Support " ticket from the "My Centurion" portal and indicate your interest to join our CenturionAlliance program.

The Program Director will get in touch with you henceforth.

Thank you and best regards.

Cheers
