MediaTracker 2.1.3 with OS X snow leopard

Hi there,
I tried trial version of MediaTracker. It seems freezing when I add the first item to library. I was so happy there was a software for my Century CD for Mac but it didn't last for long. I am hoping to have this issue fixed for us to use with Snow Leopard. Thanks for understanding.

Jude

When I forced quit this program and got a problem report. Do you want me to send this report? its really huge.

Hello Jude

Greetings from Digistore Solutions.

Thank you for supporting our products, Centurion CD and Centurion DiscHub.

Digistore Solutions manages to support Macintosh OS X - from the earlier Version 10.0 "Cheetah " released during Q1, 2001, right up to Version 10.5 "Leopard" during Q3, 2009.  Furthermore, during these periods, our valuable customers receive the software upgrade absolutely free-of-charge.

Unfortunately, Digistore Solutions discovers that our current software version may not effectively support Macintosh OS X Version 10.6 "Snow Leopard".  This is accordance to the mixed responses we have received from our valuable customers.

In fact, some of our valuable customers were able to operate the software on Macintosh OS X Version 10.6 "Snow Leopard" without any problem; while some with minor error.

As such, Digistore Solutions shall discontinue supporting Macintosh Operating System (Mac OS) for our products until we are able to resolve this software issue.  Apple suggested to evaluate using Macintosh OS X Version 10.7 "Lion", scheduled for release during Q2, 2011.

Our valuable customers, whom were using Macintosh OS X Version 10.5 or below could still continue using our software application.

In the hindsight, Digistore Solutions is considering to develop a new open-source software application supporting future releases of Mac OS.

Hence, if you are interested to register as our beta tester to test-drive this new software application, please drop an e-mail to friends@digistoresolutions.com.

Thank you and best regards.

Cheers

As long as you are just running Centurion CD then I have had only occasional hiccups with mediatracker Lite. Just make sure you backup with a new date suffix after every batch of loads.

MediaTracker Professional however, is another matter altogether. The main problems seem to be in batch add to library (if the CD/DVD is not in an acceptable format) and also media library backup ( a potentially nasty problem - it just hangs). I've also found that switching from one type of task to another causes problems, particularly if I swap from one task using the Mac DVD drive to the DiscHub and back. I now shut down MTPro and restart for each new type of task. So how do I backup the library and batch add discs?

Both products seem to write to the same library format. To backup the library I start MTLite and perform the backup with that. Note that I do not use advanced features like logical topic (Media) collections. I do not know if MTLite can write to the library or back it up if the advanced features are used.

If you are having trouble getting even the base install of MT Pro to work, why not try installing MT Lite first to initialise the library. Note that subsequently adding a discHub and MTPro requires the installation of the DiscHub driver. This is done automatically by a successful MTPro install (although you must acknowledge a prompt and accept).
